Seagate Expansions 500GB External Hard Drive

Seagate Expansions 500GB External Hard Drive

I purchased this external drive to be able to replace another make of get which totally corrupted my Vista LAPTOP OR COMPUTER, resulting in total data loss about the external drive, and complete reformatting with my PC. I did have a replacement drive from work, but they insisted on giving me identical make/type, and although this do work OK (but slower), i was never happy with it after the problems with the original just one.
I use the drive not simply to store 3d files, but in addition work directly from the drive in SolidWorks. Whether this drive being formatted as NTFS 's the reason or not, this drive is considerably faster than the [Buffalo] 500GB drive thought about before. Just plug it in and away it goes. Now working away at Windows XP. The only thing that the PC doesn't like is basically leave it plugged in and commencement the PC, but this is probably more to do with the PC setup more than anything. It is neat, runs quietly and stays fairly cool. As it is just a 'horizontal' type of case, as an alternative to an upright type, it can't be accidentally knocked over onto it's side. It needs an additional power source, but that shall be expected, given a drive of your speed and performance. Those that get there electric power from the USB cable usually are far slower in my practical experience. It takes me around 10 minutes to support all the data into my personal PC (12. 5GB)
In summation: so far so good, i would suggest this drive to anyone that's looking for a 'working' drive, not just a drive for storage.
